Dwarfed form lay sprawled on the bank, rapt slate gaze fixed on the tiny fish moseying about in the shallows. A paw dangled into the river, unmoving, save for the chestnut fur that floated freely in the water. The pup gave his paw a gentle swirl, stirring the current and setting the fish in a panic. They darted every which way, blindly, unorganized. A smirk crawled across his maw.
The paw was still again, and as the fish slowly realized their world was at peace once more, they reformed and resumed browsing the bottom near the water's edge. He watched them for a few moments longer, almost enjoying the obliviousness of it all as he let the minnows settle, then gave the water another pass with his paw. Having apparently learned nothing, the fish again scrambled mindlessly away from the intruder. This was fun.
He pulled himself to the immediate edge, peering into the mass of fish, mildly considering snapping at them. But that would involve getting himself damper than he needed to be, which wasn't desirable. Ahh, well. Playing with the fish could be as nice as eating them. He shrugged off the thought and settled back in his original position, paw submerged in the cool current.
ooc~ xD There. I posted. Happy?

Time had escaped the young father. He had forgotten about caring for himself, forgot about caring for his progeny. He almost felt ashamed of himself. whatthehell. Of course he did. He felt sorry that he missed the point of having whelps. Caring for them. Inhaling deeply, he rubbed his nose against the ground, attempting to pick up the scent of any wolves around. He caught one. Oh, yay. The scent was familiar, and male. Either Duester or Nedatro, he couldn't tell from that sample. But he could sense where the young whelp was, and that was enough. Rather pensively, he sauntered across what he considered one of the nicest areas of the territory.
As he drew closer to the river he became aware of the small frame of his whelp, Duester. Ahh. Duester. The whereabouts of Perfidy and Nedatro... well, they were anyone's guess. He shrugged gingerly, watching the whelp with caution. Then, in a hopefully average and caring voice, he spoke:
'Hello, Duester.'
He wadn't going to ask about Perfidy and Nedatro. If he was Duester, he'd probably be annoyed that the only time his father was addressing him was to ponder the whereabouts of his other two siblings. He sat on his hindquarters, his expression clouded.

Mm.
The pup's paw twitched, setting the fish into a frenzy, to his morbid amusement. The steady flick of his plume slowed after a moment; the mitt was withdrawn and given a brief shake. At his leisure the whelp pulled himself upright, stretching, stifling a yawn. Settling, he fixed Domani with a dubious stare. This was odd. And yet, strangely gratifying. His father looked mildly distracted; he could probably fluster the brute with some sort of petty comment.. Pressure him a bit. Any good kills lately, Dad? In any case, neglect might have bothered some, but it suited Duester fine. He liked his space.
Hello, he finally retorted, guardedly, as if his father's simple greeting was loaded.
ooc~ Mrawr. D: Short. And I feel mean.. xD -Snuggles Domani-

Domani watched the ground in sort of an off-handed way, an ear flicking at his son's reply. Hello. Apathetic, but so was what Domani supplied his son with. He shrugged gingerly. Duester didn't act like a pup most of the time. Then again, either did any of the others. They all seemed too serious to him. Of course, there was a large possibility that it was just a facade the whelps put on for their father. Don't see why they would, unless they were conspiring against him. Paranoia meanth that Domani wasn't quick to patronize his own flesh and blood just because they were whelps. They weren't cheerful enough. It suited him fine, too. He wasn't one to entertain a bunch of dribbling, heavy whelps while they patiently sat on his head.
'So. Dare me to force small talk?'
As said before, Domani wasn't one to patronize his progeny.
ooc; Short and (I hope)sweet.

The innocent little fangs that pups sported before their adult canines grew in were exposed in a mirthless smile.
If you please.
He paused for a moment, almost matching his father's expression as he mused over this. Hueless gaze flickered toward him, studying him blankly as if eying a foreign wolf. It was almost amusing. Almost.. Duester had been so intent, so adamant to improve ties with his family. But now he felt so.. feh.
So.. he trailed off aimlessly, quiet voice void of much enthusiam, So, there've been trespassers?
Well. Yeah. He scented the various tracks. Somewhat faded. Somewhat forlorn. And then, why did it matter? It wasn't his land. Wasn't his problem. And yet, it was small talk. Forced small talk, indeed.
