Name: Duskfall Nightshadow
Age: One year and one month
Gender: Male
Parents: Kiana (dead) - father unknown
Siblings: Four, unnamed (dead)
Mate: None
Pups: None
Physical Appearance: Through Dusk's first season and, probably due to chronic malnourishment, well into his second, he was naught but a velvety ball of jet. He was tiny and roly-poly, his identifying feature the glimmer of inconsistent argent that occasionally brightened his wide, dark eyes - eyes that seemed enormous for the sweet-natured face in which they were set. After his period of rapid growth decided to have its say, however, the puppy looked rather different. Although he remains on the small side, he is strong enough now, in a slender, half-grown sort of way, and, of course, he is still not yet near his undetermined adult size. Furthermore, just as he is shedding the juvenile roundness of features in this wiry in-between stage, he has long since lost his infant down. By the time that he had seen the winter through, he had acquired and replaced a few layers - now, his coat free of all excess weight in the warm weather, he is sleek and glossy, and blue-black lights play across the midnight of his fur. These days, Dusk's health is quite satisfactory; he has grown much, and only the silver-touched gaze remains unchanging.
Personality: As a pup first brought to those who fostered him, Dusk was very difficult to approach. He was the absolute opposite of outgoing then - from his timid fragility and clinging dependence to his shy, self-effacing insignificance - and now? He has learned protocol well, and hardly has he outgrown the tendency to shrink away. It was slid beneath the quiet steadiness that is praised in young adults; it tempers the steel that is his deep, abiding loyalty for those he comes to respect. His maturity was gained in loss, and he is always highly selective of his company. Generally disinclined toward superfluous individual interaction, held only by his powerful pack instinct, he reserves his allegiance for a chosen few, and keeps his fondness even more cautiously portioned out. He is only ever indiscriminately open to the helpless and fearful, for they seem to him infinitely reminiscent of what he was. He understands them as he does no one in the world. For them alone, he can demonstrate not only his interest and fierce defensiveness but also the sweet, coaxing warmth that he knows brought him from hiding into healing - not too many seasons ago.
History: Dusk was born last in a litter of five, the fatherless whelp of a cast-out omega. Kiana and her young survived solely because of a young wolf by the name of Kaemon Braeden. A yearling at the time, Kaemon was wandering and came upon a weak, abandoned mother and her starving, nameless pups - three females and two males. She could not leave them unattended to seek food, and, having spent eleven months of his life safe and sound in a pack that had taken him in, the adolescent was overwhelmed by a mix of righteous horror and pity; he tried to save them. He gave Kiana whatever small prey he could manage to catch. ...Of course, it wasn't enough. One by one, Kiana's little ones died...until the day that Kaemon arrived at the makeshift den to find the last survivor scrambling about alone...and even Kiana's life vanished. He was appalled, guilt-wracked, uncertain...but, soon enough, he was to be seen weaning the remaining pup by virtue of necessity - perhaps a few days early - as he introduced him to regurgitated meat. He was to be seen washing the pup very inexpertly; he was to be seen giving it - him - a name.
Duskfall Nightshadow chose his own nickname, to some extent - Dusk - and wished to go with Kaemon. It was a lucky thing, for Kaemon would have taken him regardless of his own infantile choices, and he became the youngest lupine inhabitant of the Starlight lands. Between Kaemon, the adult Lucien Destiny, and others in the pack, Dusk came, one way or another, from one month of age to about three seasons. Midway through his fourth season, in spite of how precious happiness had neutralized many of the things that might otherwise have bothered him, Dusk realized a desire to answer certain questions once and for all. He wanted more knowledge of his origins than Kaemon or anyone else seemed to be able to tell him, and so he departed - partially in search of information and partially to escape the emotional drama that had ever circulated the young adults of Starlight - and that, in fact, revolved an exceptional amount around Dusk's own much-loved mentor. He went on his way with reluctantly-bestowed familial blessings, and, after a little adventure, he came to Faded Vehemence and made a seemingly unfounded decision to stay.
((Bah. It's been a week or so since I started this, so I suppose I might as well put it up. xD I don't...eh...it's fairly unedited, but I stopped caring. Come and accept me properly, darling.))
